“There are some corners of the universe which have bred the most terrible things…They must be fought.” These immortal lines are famously spoken by Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor in the classic 1967 Cybermen story ‘The Moonbase'.
Demon Records presents, for the first time on 2LP vinyl, the complete full-cast soundtrack of this ‘lost’ classic BBC TV adventure, with linking narration by Frazer Hines. Only two of the four episodes are retained in the archives.
The story marks the second of four encounters with the Cybermen that the Second Doctor would face. It is set on the now-colonised moon in the year 2070. Humans there are under siege as the Cybermen have identified their base as a strategic vantage point from which to invade Earth! One by one the crew is falling sick. When suspicion falls on the Doctor, he must find the source of the infection and prove his innocence. But when the Moonbase is breached by Cybermen, the Doctor and his companions Polly (Anneke Wills), Ben (Michael Craze) and Jamie (Frazer Hines) must find a way to save the crew from an even deadlier threat.
First broadcast in 1967, this exciting adventure was written by Kit Pedler, co-creator of the Cybermen, and directed by Morris Barry, who has also directed ‘Tomb of the Cybermen'. The guest cast including Patrick Barr, Andrew Maranne, Michael Wolf and John Rolfe. All four episodes are available as sound recordings, complete with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s familiar Doctor Who theme music. They are released here across two LP vinyl discs.
With a superb cover illustration depicting the Cybermen on the Moon, these two translucent ‘Blue Moon’ discs are housed in beautifully designed inner sleeves with vintage TV guide-style listings for each episode.
