Tami Neilson releases new single ‘You’re Gonna Fall’ ahead of upcoming album ‘Neon Cowgirl’

Tami Neilson has unveiled her new single ‘You're Gonna Fall,' the first release from her upcoming album ‘Neon Cowgirl,' due out July 11 via Outside Music. The track, a moody country noir duet with JD McPherson, pays homage to the iconic '60s collaborations of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood and will be featured in an upcoming episode of the international TV series The Brokenwood Mysteries.

Neilson, known for her powerhouse voice and magnetic stage presence, has earned praise from critics around the world. Rolling Stone has described her as a “fire-breathing R&B belter,” while Mojo likens her to “a feral Peggy Lee.” Her genre-blending style and bold persona have cemented her status as a standout figure in modern roots and country music.

In a story as colourful as the artist herself, Neilson shared how the collaboration with McPherson came about. While catching up with fellow musician Nicole Atkins on a Nashville porch, Neilson casually mentioned her dream of working with McPherson. A few texts later—and a video clip of Neilson performing at the Ryman—the two were meeting up to discuss their shared love of country noir. The result is a haunting and sultry duet that sets the tone for ‘Neon Cowgirl.'

The new album will also feature appearances from Ashley McBryde, Grace Bowers, Shelley Fairchild and Neil Finn, adding even more star power to the highly anticipated release.

Following the album's debut, Neilson will join Willie Nelson—and later both Nelson and Bob Dylan—on the Outlaw Music Festival tour. She is also set to appear at Merlefest, Willie’s Fourth of July Picnic, and multiple performances at the Grand Ole Opry. In June, she’ll head to Europe for shows in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
