Rising country artist Karley Scott Collins is back with her latest release, ‘Religion and Politics,' now available on all streaming platforms. It's a mature, restrained ballad that showcases Collins' unique, gravelly vocals in a thoughtful, bittersweet way as she returns home after a break up and adds her ex to the list of things she doesn't want to talk about.
Collins shared the inspiration behind the track, saying, “I had the title ‘Religion and Politics’ in my back pocket for a long time because my mom had a friend when I was growing up who would say, ‘You don't talk about religion and politics among friends.’ That always stuck with me as a cool song title, but I wasn’t sure how to use it.” The song took shape when Collins visited her hometown after a breakup and realised those were the topics she didn’t want to discuss. “I ended up adding religion, politics, and you to the things I don’t want to talk about when I go back home.”
Recently named to Nashville Briefing’s Artists to Watch Class of 2024, Collins has been busy touring with Carly Pearce on her Hummingbird Tour and supporting Corey Kent and Nate Smith on their respective headlining tours.
Following her Grand Ole Opry debut, where she performed a duet with Lady A’s Charles Kelley, Collins will return to the iconic stage on October 22. She will also perform in her hometown of Lake City, Florida, at the 2024 Florida Gateway Fair & Livestock Show on October 26.
