‘Neighbours’: why is Vic Stone in Erinsborough?

No sooner had Chelsea Murphy (Viva Bianca) fled Erinsborough, a new trouble-maker arrived in town in the shape of Vic Stone (Craig Hall).

This week's ‘Neighbours' saw Vic, the ex-husband of Jane (Annie Jones) and the father of Nicolette (Hannah Monson) and Byron (Xavier Molyneux), arrive in Erinsborough and immediately everyone's suspicions were raised. Jane believed her ex to be in the midst of some new scheme, while Byron struggled to be civil to his father due to his past behaviour.

Nicolette on the other hand was delighted that her father was in town; that is until he told her that she was wasting her life and potential. In a twist, it was revealed that Vic had a lot of money in the bank and Sadie (Emerald Chan) accidentally happened upon that information. Vic begged her to stay quiet, and so far she has, but what is he really doing in Erinsborough and why does he have so much money?

Why does Vic have so much money in his account?

Jane commented that Vic is always broke and trying to loan money off people. It would seem that's not the case this time as we saw that Vic had a heck of a lot of money sitting in his account. He also delivered a family vase back to Jane, which he'd taken years earlier. Could it be that Vic is on the straight and narrow, and has somehow legitimately earned himself a fortune? It seems unlikely doesn't it?

Could Vic be dying?

This theory could very well turn out to be true. The signs are all there – Vic is trying to make amends with Jane and reconnect with his kids. Both Nicolette and Byron have mentioned how out of character it is for their father to act like a father, and Vic has been laser-focused on his kids. Could it be that the money is going to be handed down to his kids but he wants them to be on better terms before it does? So far there's been no sign that Vic is terminally ill but it would explain a lot.

Is this all another big Vic mess?

Given how cagey Vic is being about his money, and how desperate he's been to keep Sadie quiet, maybe he's not in Erinsborough for any good reason. Maybe he's going to try and win Jane back from Mike, only to deceive her and leave her once again. We don't think this is the case but once a dodgy character, always a dodgy character right?

‘Neighbours' airs Monday to Thursday on Amazon Freevee.
