G4 is celebrating 20 years in music this year and to mark the occasion they will release new album ’20’ on 12th April 2024 and embark on a tour.
The announcement is accompanied with the release of their take on the romantic classicĀ āIo Che Non Vivo Senza Te (You Donāt Have To Say You Love Me)ā, which is available everywhere now. Take a listen below:
’20’Ā seesĀ G4Ā return to their roots with a heady mix of self-chosen modern pop songs from the likes ofĀ Olivia Rodrigo,Ā Billie EilishĀ andĀ James BluntĀ alongside timeless favourites and operatic standards.
G4 rose to fame during the first series of ‘The X-Factor’ where they came second place to Steve Brookstein in 2004. The band has gone on to have a very successful career, even through a number of line-up changes the past two decades. Original members Jonathan Ansell and Mike Christie remain but they are now joined by Duncan SandilandsĀ (bass) and new recruitĀ Jai McDowallĀ (tenor), who won ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2011.
Jonathan AnsellĀ explains,Ā āItās still exciting to be kicking around this industry all these years on.ā
Mike ChristieĀ adds,Ā āSinging covers was the right thing for us because it broke down the barrier of classical music. People hear a pop song they know and we turn it on its head. Weāre still around today because we push boundaries and are not afraid to do something different.āĀ
’20’Ā is availableĀ on all digital platforms on theĀ 12thĀ April.Ā Physical formats include a collectorās edition vinyl, a CD and a cassette will follow on the 17thĀ May.
G4āsĀ 20th anniversary tour starts inĀ WorthingĀ onĀ 16th AprilĀ and runs through toĀ StockportĀ onĀ 15th October, taking in aĀ LondonĀ show atĀ Leicester Square TheatreĀ onĀ 9th September.
