Zayn is heading a new direction with his new music and he’s announced that his fourth studio album ‘Room Under the Stairs’ will be released on 17th May 2024 via Island Records UK / Mercury Records.
The first teaser from the record is ‘What I Am’, a self-penned soulful song that sounds completely different from anything fans have heard from Zayn before. Zayn has been working on ‘Room Under the Stairs’ for the past six years in rural Pennysylvania and the collection is his most personal to date. Themes on the record include the complexities of healing, stillness, and growth.
‘Room Under the Stairs’ was co-produced by Zayn with Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell).
Reflecting uponĀ ‘Room Under the Stairs’ ZaynĀ says āThis is my favourite album that I’ve made to date, mainly because it comes from a place of sheer honesty and vulnerability. I wanted each song to feel as if it was just me sitting beside you telling you how I feel, singing directly to you. Itās raw and stripped back and the type of music I always hoped to make.ā
He continues, āWorking with Dave Cobb has been an amazing experience. The way heās elevated the music is second to none, and he has done an incredible job helping me create this record. I hope we can take listeners on some whimsical, magical journey, and that they enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.ā
āI think just being where I was at that time, staying away from things and living with my own thoughts inspired me to want to write something from that place. Iāve got to put this out as a whole body of work, itās something for myself, not even just for the world.ā
To coincide with the pre-order that launches today, fans will be able to purchase two special vinyl editions, a signed āStudio Editionā with exclusive cover art, a limited-edition colour vinyl, and two CDās – one that is signed and both with special booklets including lyrics.
