Walter Presents is bringing new Spanish murder mystery ‘The Drought’ to C4 Streaming in February.
Set in sun-soaked Spain, a shocking discovery on the Spanish-Portuguese boarder sparks an investigation into a deadly conspiracy from decades ago. A small and close-knit community is grappling with the harsh realities of water scarcity during a relentless drought. However, this town must battle more than the harsh landscape, as depleting water levels bring dark secrets to the surface when two bodies are found in the town’s reservoir by an unsuspecting young girl and her grandfather.
As the police unearth the remains there are clear signs of foul play thus a dangerous game of cat and mouse ensues. A fierce Detective Daniela Yanes (Elena Rivera) leads the enquiry, but it seems as though her senior officer, who also happens to be her father, doesn’t want her digging into the past.
Despite this, Detective Yanes is compelled by her thirst for the truth and with the help of an old acquaintance she begins her search for the culprits and refuses to let anyone get in her way. However, this puts her life in grave danger as it seems the murderer is still at large and will stop at nothing to conceal the truth. Worse still, the murderer may be closer to home than Daniela first thought.

The series is created by Joaquín Llamas and Arturo Ruiz Serrano. It stars Elena Riviera, Marco D’Almeida and Guilherme Filipe.
