Rita Simons is trading Albert Square for Chester as it’s confirmed who she’ll be playing in long-running soap ‘Hollyoaks’.
Fans can catch their first glimpse at Simons, who will be playing Joel’s (Rory Douglas-Speed) mum Marie during an after-credit trailer airing on the ‘Hollyoaks’ hour-long special airing on Tuesday on E4.
Simons is set to film alongside Douglas-Speed as well as cast members Jamie Lomas and Jennifer Metcalfe. The Channel 4 soap confirms that she is set to cause a stir, being the mother of established Hollyoaks character, Joel Dexter, played by Rory Douglas Speed.
Tracksuit clad Marie will be sneaking into the Chester village this year after leaving prison, with her first order of business being to steal Mercedes’ red dress from the McQueen washing line.
Talking about her upcoming appearance, Simons said “Marie’s got a lot of ties here, so I think there’s going to be quite a lot of trouble between quite a few characters, and you will just have to keep watching to see…”
‘Hollyoaks’ is available on Channel 4 Streaming and airs 7pm weeknights on E4.
