Any Mariah Carey fan knows that as soon as the clock chimes to signify the end of Halloween it’s Mariah season, aka the countdown to Christmas, and the diva herself decided to play a prank on Jimmy Kimmel to let him know that “it’s time”.
To coincide with an appearance on Kimmel’s chat show to promote her forthcoming US ‘Merry Christmas One and All!’ tour, Carey organised a prank with the talk show host’s wife, where she arrived at his house in the middle of the night to blast out her iconic song ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. In the video for the prank, Mariah is seen arriving at Kimmel’s home with a group of festive-dressed people before she makes her way to his bedroom and blasts out her ever-green hit.
Kimmel, who is fast asleep in bed, wakes up to find Mariah and her group at the side of his bed and he’s showered in fake snow as the iconic hit plays. Mariah then leaves Kimmel’s home, allowing he and his wife to get back to sleep.
The prank comes after Mariah released her latest (now annual) “it’s time” video, that sees the star being thawed out ready for the holidays. At the time of writing this article, the video has already had more than 2 million views. You can see it below:
Following the prank, Mariah appeared on Kimmel’s show to talk about her upcoming tour, discuss the enduring popularity of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and to discuss the kind words Britney Spears says about her in her recently released memoir ‘The Woman In Me’.
