Tyler Childers announces the fascinating, whimsical ‘Rustin’ in the Rain’ album for September release

Get ready to be swept away by the musical magic of Tyler Childers as he prepares to unveil his captivating new album, ‘Rustin’ In The Rain’, on September 8th, under the banner of Hickman Holler Records/RCA Records. Fans can now pre-order/pre-save the album to secure their spot in this enchanting musical journey. Pre-order or pre-save the album right here.

Childers describes this album as a whimsical collection of songs he creatively curated, imagining himself presenting them to none other than the legendary Elvis Presley. From covers to a co-write, and even songs penned with his best (but admittedly terrible) Elvis impersonation, the album exudes a sense of fun and creativity that’s bound to resonate with listeners.

“This album is a concoction of songs I pieced together, envisioning a scenario where I’m showcasing them to Elvis himself,” Childers explains. “Whether it’s covers, collaborations, or my quirky Elvis impressions while tending to the farm or wandering around the house, I sincerely hope you find as much joy in listening to this album as I did in crafting it. Thank you, thank you very much.”

Leading up to the album release, the first single, ‘In Your Love,’ is already out and accompanied by its official music video. Directed by Bryan Schlam, the video brings to life a timeless love story set in rural Appalachia during the 1950s. Starring Colton Haynes and James Scully, the video beautifully captures the essence of the song’s emotional narrative.

The video was created under the creative direction of Silas House, a New York Times bestselling author, Poet Laureate of Kentucky, and recipient of the 2022 Duggins Prize—the largest award for an LGBTQ writer in the nation. House shared his thoughts on the video, expressing the importance of representing LGBTQ individuals in country music videos and highlighting the rich complexities of rural life and love.

Childers, along with his dedicated band, The Food Stamps, consisting of James Barker (pedal steel), Craig Burletic (bass), CJ Cain (guitar), Rodney Elkins (drums), Chase Lewis (keyboards), and Jesse Wells (guitar, fiddle), is currently on a nationwide tour that’s been met with overwhelming success, boasting sold-out shows across 30 dates. The tour includes prestigious venues such as Radio City Music Hall, Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion, DC’s Merriweather Post Pavilion, and two nights at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre. In a thrilling announcement, two New Year’s Eve shows at Lexington’s Rupp Arena have also been added to the tour schedule.

Following the success of last year’s triple album, ‘Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?’, which showcased eight songs in three distinct sonic perspectives, ‘Rustin’ In The Rain’ promises to be another remarkable addition to Childers’ discography. With his trailblazing spirit and unique approach to roots music, Childers has earned praise from critics and fans alike. His previous releases, including the Grammy-nominated album ‘Long Violent History’ and the acclaimed ‘Purgatory’, have solidified his position as one of country music’s most innovative and influential artists.
