Walter Presents: ‘Inspector Ricciardi’ will launch on Channel 4 and All 4 next month.
The six-part Italian series was created by Alessandro D’Alatri, Salvatore Basile and Maurizio De Giovanni, and it stars Lino Guanciale, Antonio Milo and Enrico Ianniello.
Naples, 1932. Inspector Ricciardi is no ordinary detective. The police commissioner is haunted by the ghosts of people who were violently killed, and can hear their final thoughts. It is a gift he inherited from his mother, and he doesn’t hesitate to use his chilling connection to the echoes of the dead to solve Naples’ most vicious murder cases. Thus, this extraordinary gift is both a blessing and a curse.
The inspector maintains a withdrawn demeanour, which alienates him from his colleagues – who are all unaware of his internal reckonings with the dead. While on his quest for justice, the inspector meets a shy and reserved young teacher named Enrica who falls in love with Ricciardi despite his best efforts to remain emotionally unaccessible. Enrica’s determination to find out who Ricciardi really is force the inspector to discover parts of himself that he has long kept suppressed as he has been emotionally hindered by this curse his whole life.
Viewers will recognise superstar Italian actor Lino Guanciale from Walter Presents: ‘The Red Door’, another smash hit long running series in which he also explored the supernatural world as a police detective caught between life and death. Nominated for the Best TV Series award at the Golden Globes, Italy, Inspector Ricciardi is a smash hit in Italy, with more seasons currently in production, and will appeal to the many millions of viewers who have already fallen in love with Inspector Montalbano, the Sicilian detective who has become a global phenomenon.
Walter Presents: ‘Inspector Ricciardi’ will launch on Channel 4 at 11pm on 12th March 2023. The full boxset will be available on Walter Presents via All 4 from Friday 10th March.
