The Folio Society has recently added ‘For Your Eyes Only’ to its collection. It is the first collection of short stories (‘Octopussy’ and ‘The Living Daylights’ would later be paired). The title would be used for a Roger Moore Bond movie in 1980, which bears no resemblance to the story. ‘From a View to a Kill’ would later be contracted slightly to form the title of Moore’s seventh and final Bond outing. Another story, ‘Quantum of Solace’, would later be used for Daniel Craig’s second outing. Perhaps the new James Bond will feature in the other two stories, ‘Risico’ and ‘The Hildebrand Rarity’? These five stories are incredibly varied, demonstrating the depths of Fleming’s imagination. Buy The Folio Society’s edition of Ian Fleming’s ‘For Your Eyes Only‘.
