I cannot wait for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to be released and thankfully there isn’t too long to wait now. The game will be released on 22nd March and will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be the latest offering from FromSoftware the creators of Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
Set in a version of the late 1500s Sengoku Japan Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice puts you in the shoes of a battle-hardened ninja-like warrior (Sekiro). You are in the service of a young Lord and have been separated in battle. Not only have you lost your Lord but you’ve lost one of your arms too. The story follows Sekiro as he sets out to rescue his Lord from the clutches of the Ashina Clan.
You can check out a gameplay trailer below:
First off as the game has been developed by FromSoftware I don’t imagine it’s going to be a cakewalk and I would expect very challenging combat. There will also be some RPG elements to the game so there will be plenty of character progression. The game will be solely single player.
Unlike the Dark Souls titles combat in Sekiro looks much more fluid and offers more options to take down your foe. Your prosthetic arm can be customised and you could choose to equip an armour shattering axe or equip a flame vent that allows you to imbue your attacks with fire.
There is also the addition of a grappling hook that will allow you to get above your enemies in order to get a jump on them. Stealth is also a valid option here so if that’s more your cup of tea you can dispatch your enemies sneakily from the shadows.
Upon death, you won’t lose all of your collected xp as you do in Dark Souls which comes as a relief! You can also choose to respawn at the point of death rather than at a checkpoint.
