The Greatest Dancer live shows kick off next weekend and last night’s episode saw a tense deliberation between the Dance Captains as they selected their final three acts.
Cheryl chose to take through Street Dancers Frobacks, Contemporary group Dane Bates Collective and Contemporary/lyrical duo Harry & Eleiyah.
Discussing why she chose those three acts Cheryl revealed, “I feel like I’m representing them as they’re the reason for the show and they’re the ones bringing the talent. They’re all completely different acts. I have a female empowering, fresh contemporary group. I have a fun, funky all male street group and I’ve got a dynamic duo that are technically flawless.”
She continued, “My acts are so versatile. They are going to do things the other dance captains don’t even know they can do yet! My job is to take the challenges that are thrown at us and convert that into what represents each act best, encouraging and pushing the best out of them to surprise the people at home.”

Frobacks
Four-piece male street-dancing group from London Frobacks formed just over a year ago after having been friends that grew up in the same dancing community. Comprised of Ryan, Gilly, Alex and Reece, the four friends blew the Dance Captains and the audience away during their audition.
Why do they think they might be The Greatest Dancer? “We’ve been told by people who have seen us that we make people feel good with our performance and we can’t ask for more than that.”
Dane Bates Collective
Contemporary female dance group Dane Bates Collective is made up of nine girls aged between 13-19. They were formed by Dane Bates, a dance teacher and choreographer, just over a year ago and they rehearse together in Liverpool.
Arguing their case to win the show the group says, “I think that our passion and work ethic makes us The Greatest Dancers. Some of us might be young, but we are fighters and we work hard. We want this so badly, we will dance our hearts out and give it our all.”
Harry & Eleiyah
Contemporary duo Harry and Eleiyah are best friends from North Wales and Liverpool respectively. Their audition moved the Dance Captains and the audience were mesmerised by it too.
What separates the duo from the other finalists? “There are so many amazing dancers out there we just try to stand out and give everything we have. We work so hard and are not afraid to try different styles of dance. We dance ballet, contemporary, commercial, lyrical, and tap. We think to be the Greatest Dancer you must be versatile in all different styles.”
The Greatest Dancer live shows begin at 7.30pm Saturday on BBC One.
