Crimson Keep launches on PC/Steam

Crimson Keep is a game about exploration, combat and survival. Team Crimson have combined RPG progression, rogue-like gameplay and first-person action to craft a rewarding and fun experience. Players must descend into an ever-changing labyrinth full of monsters, traps, and treasure. Their goal is to locate the sunken remains of an ancient castle and cleanse it. The great power found within could be the only hope of escape. Every drop of XP, piece of loot, and bit of damage taken could determine whether a player survives, or succumbs to The Keep’s dark power. Expect to die… often.

Here’s the official story:

Thirty years ago, a curse destroyed the entire village of Larkstead. Banished to the dungeons below, your only hope is to explore, scavenge, and fight for survival. Will you find the mysterious Crimson Keep? Will you escape this terrible place? Or will you be food for the innumerable beasts and horrors that lurk in the depths below?

Watch the Crimson Keep release trailer below:

Crimson Keep features procedurally generated dungeon layouts ensuring things are kept fresh as enemies will spawn in different locations and objects such as traps and shrines move every time the player dies. Crimson Keep features perma-death, cursed items, hunger and deities which all ensure the challenge stays high for players. Death means losing everything. On the plus side, completing a zone allows you to begin from its start point when you respawn.

There are three character classes available to players – Berserker, Witch and Drifter. As players progress they can upgrade their characters with new abilities and equipment. A wide range of weapons are on offer to suit all players – each comes with different speeds, damage arcs and ranges. Levelling up grants players access to new abilities, useful for different combat situations. Many enemies require special strategies such as hitting them in their weak point. Successful players will be those who learn the best methods for defeating foes.
