Tragedy struck on the latest episode of The Resident and it could cause a heap of trouble for Nic (Emily VanCamp).

Lily (Violett Beane) was readmitted to the hospital after suffering a panic attack following her latest round of chemo, administered by Dr. Hunter (Melina Kanakaredes). Worried that she was being given too much chemo, Lily begged Nic and Conrad (Matt Czuchry) to help her.

Nic gave Lily the details of another doctor but that information made its way back to Dr. Hunter, who ordered Nic back onto Lily’s case. Dr. Hunter told Nic to administer more medication to Lily, which she was reluctant to do, and when Nic finished her shift, Dr. Hunter meddled with the dosage.

That caused Lily to go into cardiac arrest and Conrad wasn’t able to save her.

Meanwhile Conrad’s ex-fiancée arrived at the hospital and it was discovered she had an ectopic pregnancy.

Elsewhere cameras were installed in the operating rooms to catch any mistakes or errors from the the staff.

The next episode of the season is Haunted. Conrad treats his old medical teacher, who is hallucinating visions of former patients.
