Cam performs Diane on Good Morning America and gets a special message from Dolly Parton

Cam stopped by Good Morning America (GMA) to perform her latest single Diane yesterday.

The singer-songwriter arrived in the show’s New York studio and was surprised with a special message by none other than Dolly Parton. Diane is a song that was written by Cam with Tyler Johnson and Jeff Bhasker as a response to Parton’s iconic hit Jolene.

The lyrics of the song explore the idea that Jolene had no idea that the man she was sleeping with was married. It’s an apology and explanation to Diane, the man’s wife, and by the looks of it, it has Parton’s approval.

In her video message Parton said, ‘You did good on that. I wish I could be there to hear it in person but I’ll be watching you on TV.’

Following the message Cam showcased why she’s one of the best live performers in the genre with a flawless rendition of Diane.

Diane is the lead single from Cam’s upcoming second album, which is expected later this year.

This weekend Cam will be in the UK to perform a headline show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall. It will be her first show in the UK since last year’s show at The Tabernacle, which took place in June.
