Unfortunately, Talia did not secure a spot on next week’s show.

Tonight the X Factor contestants from the Overs and Groups categories battled it out during Express Yourself week. Judges and mentors, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh were joined by guest judge Alesha Dixon, who was filling in for Simon Cowell, who is unable to attend the live show.

It was a rough ride for Talia Dean who was voted in as a wildcard. Unfortunately Nicole did not pick her for her top three acts but the public voted to keep her in the competition. Talia decided to go on the X Factor after a chance encounter with Nicole Scherzinger a few years back when the now mentor told her to go for her dreams. Talia mesmerised the judges on her first few auditions but Nicole felt that she was too young and possibly not ready for the shows yet.

Talia was heartbroken but seemed to be on good spirits when she sang on tonight’s live show. I thought Talia’s performance was a little on the dull side and safe. Even though the singer did show off her incredible vocal range, the song arrangement made her sound old and really didn’t suit her. I did think that Talia was a better singer than other competitors on The X Factor but she did not appear as contemporary as them.

What the judges said: Louis thought that Talia reminded him of a young Barbara Streisand, Alesha said she didn’t like the arrangement of the song but that her voice was beautiful. Mentor Nicole said that her voice was ripping through and that she looked like a goddess.

You can re-watch Talia’s performance of One Direction’s hit single, What Makes You Beautiful below:

Hopefully this is not the end of the road for Talia Dean and hope to see her on stage again soon.

The X Factor 2017 lives shows continue next weekend on ITV.
