2016 X Factor winner Matt Terry will release his first single proper, Sucker For You, tomorrow (Friday 13th October 2017).
The first single from his forthcoming debut album, Sucker For You is the follow-up to his Top 10 smash Subeme La Radio with Enrique Iglesias and Sean Paul. The track is described as showcasing ‘Mattās unique pop sound with a chorus thatās impossible to shake’.
Talking about the track Matt said: āWeāve all been in that position when we know a relationship is toxic and not good for us, but sometimes we ignore it and refuse to let go. I wrote this song when I was going through exactly that. The lyrics tell a tale of heartbreak, but the melody isnāt sad or depressing ā because Iāve come out the other side and Iām happy now.ā
Sucker For You was co-written by Matt and is the first taste of what’s to come from the talented young star.
Thinking about the future Matt commented, “I’m so excited for people to hear my new material. So far people know me as the guy who won X Factor. But when I look back on this time last year, I can’t quite believe how far I’ve come. I’m so grateful for where I am now, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I can’t wait for the next step in my journey.”
Since winning The X Factor last year, Matt has had a Top 3 hit with the Ed Sheeran-penned When Christmas Comes Around and toured the country as part of The X Factor tour. He has been writing and recording his debut album in Miami, LA and Scandinavia and featured on the Grenfell Tower charity track Bridge Over Troubled Water.
