Jarrod Dickenson has released the music video for Take It From Me and we’ve got your exclusive first look at it.
Take It From Me is featured on Dickenson’s new album Ready the Horses, which is released tomorrow, and for the video for the song he’s teamed up once again with Kenny McCracken (Rag ānā Bone Man, Turin Breaks, Aurora).
The video tells the story of a Vaudeville knife throwing double act and what starts off as perfectly innocent, soon takes a much darker twist as a betrayal is revealed. It’s a powerful video intercut with scenes of Dickenson performing the song on stage solo.
McCracken describes the video as, āwarm but dark, old and cinematic. Combining this with Jarrod’s immaculate styling and period clothes, I visualised a travelling show that I could feed tension into. It suddenly became obvious that knives and the potential for harm were a good mix.”(it’s) a soul tune, or my attempt at one. I wanted punchy horn parts and a great groove. This was a lot of fun to record, and is one of my favourite songs to sing live.ā
