Top 5 The X Factor 2016 week 4 live show performances

Last night was conveniently Fright Night on The X Factor and the contestants were all pretty impressive.

I thought most of the contestants stepped it up and showed real progress since entering the competition.

Five performances that stood out for me were those listed below.

5. Matt Terry – Nina Simone – I Put a Spell on You

Matt is easily one of the best singers on the show this year and he has to pop star looks that go with it. He’s version of the song was original and suited his voice and style really well. He’s performance was one of the best he’s had so far.

The judges agreed with Louis saying that every week Matt was getting better and Sharon mirrored his comments. Simon also loved it and thought he could be a successful recording star sometime down the line.

4. Ryan Lawrie – Backstreet Boys – Everybody

I thought Ryan’s performance this week was one of his best so far. Ryan had some ups and downs throughout the live shows but seems to shine when he sings pop songs. He looked like he was enjoying his performance last night, which made all the difference.

Louis said it was such transformation since last week. Sharon also said that he had attitude on stage and to keep on doing it. Simon said vocally that it was a thousand times better. Mentor Nicole said that he had ‘arrived’.

3. Samantha Lavery – Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart

I thought the song really made Sam stand out as a singer but her performance itself was one of the most boring of the evening. The emphasis was on her vocals and it paid off as she sounded great.

Louis said that there was something about her and that she had a great personality. He thought it was great. Sharon said her beauty and rock voice would suit the gap in the market. Mentor Simon said that he didn’t think he picked the right song for her but was fantastic nevertheless.

2. Four of Diamonds – Ella Henderson – Ghost

Four of Diamonds have had lots of catching up to do but seem to be settling in just fine. I thought the girls performance started off tentatively but they picked up halfway through their performance and finished on a high. I loved it.

Nicole said that they could really sing and appreciated the performance. Sharon thought that the girls had really progressed and had come a long way. Simon added that it felt like their performance felt real this week and one of their best.

1. Emily Middlemas – Creep – Radiohead

Emily looked sensational in her outfit last night and her vocals were so beautiful it broke my heart. I thought the song choice was perfect and fitted her voice like a glove. She was amazing and one of my favourite of the evening.

Simon said her performance was unbelievable, Sharon also agreed that it was brilliant. Nicole said that it was the performance of the night. Simon said that she chose the whole performance and that he would remember it. He thought it was magnificent.

The X Factor results will be announced tonight at 8pm on ITV.
