Emmerdale News: Robin Hood is coming to the Dales

Emmerdale welcomes renowned actor Michael Praed to the cast as Tracy’s jailbird father, Frank Clayton.

Currently serving time in prison, Frank is surprised to receive a visit from David who is trying to build bridges between Frank and Tracy.  The latter is initially unaware of what David is up to, so how will Frank’s imminent arrival in the village go down when she realises David’s put him up to it?

David Metcalfe & Frank ClaytonSpeaking about his new role, Michael said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale to play the role of Frank. From what I understand his life is fairly complicated and I’m looking forward to getting to know him and portraying this complex man”.

Michael will be a famous face to many, especially those who like me, grew up in the eighties and were addicted to Robin of Sherwood;  he played the lead role!  He also played Prince Michael in Dynasty and Jake Lovell in the Jilly Cooper mini series Riders.  With extensive success on Broadway and the West End in both musicals and theatre Michael’s credits are numerous. Productions include Pirates of Penzance, The Three Musketeers, Carousel and Aspects of Love to name a handful.

Iain MacLeod – Series Producer: “The character of Frank is really fascinating: flawed, funny, flirtatious – even fatherly, when it suits him! His tale is a story of a man trying to find redemption in the face of huge temptation, with a massive twist or two thrown in for good measure. I am thrilled that Michael is on board in the role. He is an actor of real skill and understatement and a brilliant addition to the cast.”

Emmerdale is on ITV1 weeknights at 7pm with a bonus show on Thursdays at 8pm.
