The Great Escape 2016: Boo Seeka profile

With only two weeks before this year’s Great Escape it is time to get to know the bands that will make 2016 an unforgettable festival. With over 400 acts and countless talks spread across the whole of Brighton town.

Boo Seeka are a hip hop, pysch soul, dream tronica project from a Sidney duo in Australia. This petrie dish of eccentric genres gave birth to the duo’s first single Kingdom Leader. The track premiered on HillyDilly.com and ended up on Triple J rotation for a good 12 weeks. The layering and experimental beats of Massive Attack, the cool of Mayer Hawthorne and Seed 2.0 Cody Chestnutt’s soulful vocal delivery. The inspiration for ‘Kingdom Leader’ came from a garage sale. Well, from a $50 vintage synth, picked up at a garage sale that sparked the first set of songs. This is nothing compared to Boo Seeka’s second single, Deception Bay, which entered 2015’s Triple J Hottest 100, coming at number 50.

Boo Seeka are now ready to conquer Europe and have set their eyes on the best platform for new music in the UK music scene, The Great Escape. In two weeks time you will be able to find out what its all about.

The duo have toured in Australia with Kim Churchill, Sticky Fingers, and Safia. Internationally they’ve supported Jarryd James, Shannon Saunders, Kovacs, and DMA’s.

See Boo Seeka at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar Friday night at 11.30pm.
