Following a short break, In The Woods festival is back in 2016 ready to celebrate its 10th anniversary. What started as a private party for friends of Laurel Collective in some woods has now become a watershed for new talent. Perfectly situated in Kent’s woodlands just outside London, In The Woods festival is a little paradise tucked away from the maddening city. The festival is co-directed by Charlie Andrew, who won this year’s Brit award for Best Producer.
ITW curators are more focused on talent rather than hype and pride themselves on consistently finding the best new acts months or even years before they make it big. With a line-up that is only ever revealed days before the event and is all about discovery and surprises. All this mystery and consistently good music has only added to the wonder of In The Woods Festival. Previous acts that played at the festival include Alt-J, Lianne La Havas, Micachu, Young Fathers, Laves, Kate Tempest and Jack Garratt just to name a few. It’s not surprising then that tickets sell out every year!
The bands play over two intimate stages under the beautifully lit forest canopy, with intriguing art installations to be found along the way. For your tastebuds there is locally-sourced food and ale and in the evening you can enjoy a silent disco and giant midnight bonfire that keeps things going until sunrise. There is a space to simply relax, enjoy being in the countryside, immerse yourself in short film, theatre, spoken word or a ceilidh for those that might enjoy a quick fling.
General release tickets for 2016’s 10th Anniversary festival go on sale at 11am this Sunday 8th May.
