Midnight Special

What’s it about? Being pursued by the government and a group of religious extremists, a young boy who possesses special powers goes on the run with his father. From Jeff Nichols, the acclaimed director of Take Shelter and Mud, this sci-fi thriller promises to be one of the years most fascinating films. Drawing comparison with the likes of Spielberg and Carpenter, this is one not to be missed.

Hardcore Henry

What’s it about? An action thriller filmed entirely in the style of a first person shooter. Henry, the man whose POV we follow, wakes up in a laboratory to learn he’s been resurrected from death. He has no memory of his former life and is being chased by an army of mercenaries who want him dead. Expect this to be a thrilling, non-stop explosive action movie. But can the GoPro gimmick support an entire feature?

The Huntsman: Winter’s War

What’s it about? The winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, Dheepan tells the story of a former Tamil Tiger soldier, who flees Sri Lanka after the Civil War to try and start a new life in France. Directed by Jacques Audiard (A Prophet, Rust and Bone), Dheepan promises to be a powerful and moving experience.
