Little Big Town are no strangers to C2C: Country to Country having played the main stage before and launched the 2016 festival last autumn. Ahead of their performance the quartet sat down with press to answer a few questions.
Talking about their main stage performance tonight and the reaction from UK fans at their previous shows, Karen said, ‘Girl Crush at the time we played at Shepherd’s Bush wasn’t even a single in the US. Hearing the crowd sing it back to us was amazing. (Tonight) it's going be electric.’
Phillip continued, ‘The crowds here are amazing. There’s so much passion and love. It’s inspiring' with Kimberly adding, ‘You’re good fans over here.’
Asked about how it felt to be part of the Opry, Kimberly revealed, ‘The first time we played on the Opry stage was in ’99. We knew we wanted that to be our home. (Being inducted) is the greatest honour we’ve had bestowed on us.’
We asked the band if they had any inkling that Girl Crush could be misinterpreted the way it was in the US by Country radio. Jimi explained, ‘We didn’t really think about it. We heard it and I’d never heard that perspective of jealousy before.’
Is a new album in the works yet? Phillip admitted, ‘We haven’t gone into the studio yet but we’re getting really close.’
Little Big Town will be performing on the C2C: Country to Country main stage at London’s O2 Arena at 7.25pm today.
