The nominations for the 88th Annual Academy Awards aka the Oscars have been announced today.
Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, directors Guillermo Del Toro and Ang Lee and actor John Krasinski hosted the news conference where this year’s nominees were revealed. The Revenant led the way picking up nods in the top honours including Best Picture and Best Actor.
Also well represented in this year’s nominees were The Big Short, Bridge of Spies and The Martian. Star Wars: The Force Awakens picked up several nominations in the technical categories.
The Oscars takes place on Sunday 28th February 2016 at the Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center. It will be hosted by Chris Rock for the second time – he previously hosted the ceremony back in 2005.
