Haunted Picture House scares up a Halloween treat

We love Halloween at EF and are always on the lookout for cool things to do on October 31st. The Haunted Picture House, brainchild of horror illusionist Simon Drake (The Secret Cabaret), is an interactive evening of spooky, immersive cinema with live actors, animatronic horrors and outrageous happenings held in a lavish 200 year old haunted house in London. The exact location is secret and can only be discovered when you buy a ticket.

Reece Shearsmith inaugurated their launch back in June and has even accepted a senior position on their board along with other luminaries of the movie industry.

This year they will be screening a new horror movie as well as showcasing madly kitsch and hysterically strange relics from the vaults of Hammer Films. There are untold items of fascination, promising creepy interactions, the feature film and the wandering undead, all conspiring to create a unique experience this Halloween! This is not just a film showing; their 5 hour events also involve genuine live scary happenings with actors and animatronics. They will also be screening horror-shorts in the 30min build up to the main feature.

The Event: Arrive at our secret location, and venture through the phenomenal and curiously eerie garden as atmospheric sounds entice you through the gloomy, swirling mist and ivy covered crypts.

As you enter the gothic, candlelit splendour, have a drink from the fully stocked bar to settle your nerves. Take your pick from mouth watering snacks too – but beware that you are not one of them, for there lurks in the shadows a gruesome horror of centuries old undead… something that awaits you with baited breath and long, sharp fangs.

Dare you enter The Haunted Cellar hosted by lascivious Vampires? Some would advise not as many are never seen again. Listen carefully for faint echoing screams of guests from bygone days. Perhaps have your fortune told by an eerie Whispering Chair before you make up your mind?

Discover the upstairs drawing room full of untold treasures and relax before you are seated in our auditorium to watch our movie feature. Only a limited number of wretched, damned souls may attend each event. Seating is first come, first served, and you’ll be seated around large round candlelit, cabaret style tables in the auditorium and stools around the perimeter and in the gallery of the Room of Blood.

Over 18s only. Themed dressing up encouraged.

Fully stocked, reasonably priced bar and cinema snacks, including popcorn, ice cream, chocolates, all manner of crisps and hotdogs are available too.
