The X Factor episode 6 auditions recap

Sunday night’s episode saw another round of hopeful contestants sing in front of the judges, Simon Cowell, Cheryl, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora in the hope of snapping a spot in the next stage of the competition, bootcamp. EF was watching and here is what happened.

The episode started with young contestant Havva Rebke from London, who gave a flawless performance in our opinion. Her vocals were stunning and different, which was refreshing to hear. The judges agreed that it was a great audition and Simon said it was great that she sounded British. Next up was girlband PYT, which we thought added some spice to the competition and looked great on stage. Young Calypso from Paris was pretty as a picture however her vocals were powerful and very much in control.

Katie Coleman sang about her heartache and hoped this would help her connect with all the brokenhearted and it worked. Her performance of an Ariana Grande track was powerful and emotional and earned her a standing ovation. Nick said the performance made his heart go and Rita said her performance got her excited.

The X Factor isn’t complete without its surprises and yoga teacher Mary O’Sullivan was one of those wild cards on the show, which made the judges cringe and neither of them agreed that Mary had a good voice or should go through to bootcamp, which she didn’t take gracefully.

Neneth Lyons sang Somewhere, which we thought could have been a bit of a gamble but we were quite wrong in doubting the singer, whose vocals were without fault. Neneth couldn’t help but cry as all four judges stood to applaud her emotional performance. Nick said he loved it and thought it was amazing, Simon also said she was a brilliant singer and that people at home would like her.

Following a short break we were back and it was time for some of tonight’s hotties to take that stage, young heartthrob Brodie Kelly probably made quite a few girls hearts melt with his performance. We have to admit the young lad was very charming and looked like a poster boy on stage. Ben Clark was up next and he impressed with his sultry singing. We continued the round of cute boys with boy band Sunday Club, who got Rita quite excited. Joe Waller was brave and sang one of his songs and it was rather good too. We liked his performance and the judges agreed with us.

Rita wasn’t able to take part in all of the auditions and therefore contestants had to win over only the three remaining. Trying to do that was Kiera Weathers who sang a ballad version of We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off that completely swayed the judges. Simon thought Kiera oozed taste and gave her a big fat yes taking her through to the next round of auditions.

The X Factor will be back next Saturday at 8pm.
