Madge & Harold Bishop returning for Neighbours 30th Anniversary

Ian Smith and Anne Charleston will reprise their roles as Harold and Madge Bishop for Neighbours’ 30th Anniversary episodes in March 2015.

The popular characters will return to the soap but the details of their storyline are being kept tightly under wraps. Madge was last seen on screen in 2001 when she died from pancreatic cancer whereas Harold was last seen in 2011.

ā€œIt was an immediate yes when I was invited to return for the 30th Anniversary, I wouldnā€™t have missed it and Iā€™m thrilled with the way their story unfolds,ā€ said Charleston who relocated to Melbourne last year after living in Ireland for over a decade.

ā€œI spent half my working life on Neighbours and so itā€™s lovely to be back with Anne and all the cast and crew, ā€œ said Smith who officially retired from Neighbours in 2009, the same year he was nominated for a TV Week Gold Logie Award.

Smith and Charleston are currently filming their episodes at the show’s studios in Melbourne. They are the first of a number of a celebrated past cast members returning for the 30th Anniversary to be announced.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
