Jay James ‘feels positive’ following X Factor 2014 exit

Jay James appeared on ITV’s This Morning earlier today to talk about his exit from The X Factor 2014 last night.

Speaking to presenters Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden, Jay said, “Honestly, I feel really good and positive about it. In a weird way on Saturday night, I gave it everything and I really really enjoyed it but afterwards when the comments sunk in, I thought ā€˜maybe itā€™s my time [to go]ā€™… I donā€™t know, I think you get an instinct for it when itā€™s going to happen.ā€

Viewers of the show saw Jay leave the competition after judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini forced the vote into deadlock. Dermot O’Leary then revealed that Jay would be going home and Stevi Ritchie would continue in the competition.

Talking about why he was eliminated Jay said, “I donā€™t know [what went wrong] – Iā€™ve given everything to this competition. If thereā€™s one little thing, I wouldā€™ve loved to have shown my personality a little bit more because it was such a big opportunity for me this, and because it was such a big opportunity, I took it quite seriously. I wanted to do everything I possibly could. But Iā€™ve had an incredible experience, I really have. Iā€™ve met some amazing people. Itā€™s been a privilege to have been involved in it, it really has.ā€

He also revealed there are no hard feelings towards Stevi saying, “Heā€™s my best mate in that show. We shared a bunk bed, and [have been close] since bootcamp. At bootcamp I heard someone blubbering and there was this man crying and I asked if he was alright, he said ā€˜itā€™s X Factorā€¦ the stage….ā€™ and I gave him a big cuddle and thatā€™s where we met, and weā€™ve shared a room since bootcamp. I love him to bits. And just before I was about to go on at boot camp – the biggest moment of my music life – for a minute and a half I watched Stevi Ritchie dancing like no one was watching, singing like no one was listening and it brought so much joy in my heart, and he gave me that minute of escapism and I forgot what I was about to do. But as performers thatā€™s exactly what we wanna do…”
