The X Factor 2014: Overload Generation spotlight

Overload Generation, previously known as Overload, were given a lifeline by judge Mel B who brought them back to the competition as her wildcard choice for the Groups.

The boy band had a rocky time at Bootcamp thanks to Louis Walsh’s inability to make a decision. They narrowly missed out on a place at judges’ houses and the arena audience weren’t happy about it. We thought they would sail through to the live shows.

Last night Overload Generation performed for the first time in the live shows and their performance wasn’t well-received by the judges. The audience however seemed to absolutely love them.

How do they feel about being back in the show? “We’re buzzing to be back on the show, its amazing. Itā€Ÿs a surreal experience.”

Where were they when the found out the news? “We were at Andy’s house, up in Manchester. The show told us they wanted to Skype us talking to a fan and we turned it on and it was Mel B who popped up and told us we were the wild card. We were so were happy and confused at the same time, it was a total shock.”

Has it been easy to keep it a secret? “It has been so hard keeping it a secret from our friends and our fans. We have had 2 weeks now of just brewing inside and wanting to shout it from the rooftops, we are trying to play it cool until we can tell everyone.”

Tune in to ITV tonight at 8.15pm to find out if Overload Generation make it through to next week. Watch their week 1 performance of Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl below:
