Dolly Parton fever is rife in the UK following the country icon’s Blue Smoke tour and her show-stopping appearance at Glastonbury.
Whilst Blue Smoke looks set to climb higher in the charts, Dolly has announced the release of new single Try. The inspirational track is the theme song for Dolly’s literacy programme The Imagination Library which has seen her give away over 60 million books across the US.
Talking about the track Dolly says, “It’s based on the fact a lot of my relatives couldn’t read and write and I saw how crippling that was, but also the struggles I’ve gone through as an artist and in my life. It’s about saying you’ve just gotta get out there and try. It’s an uplifting encouraging song. You’re not going to amount to anything unless you try.” She uses herself as a good example “It’s a song I’m very involved in and it’s very personal to me and I’m very proud of. The first story we give away in the literacy programme is the ‘The Little Engine That Could’ and I think I’m a little engine that did!”
Try has already been A-listed on Radio 2. Check out a recent live performance from The Wendy Williams Show:
