The Grand Ole Opry turned its spotlight toward one of country music’s most enduring icons with its fourth annual Opry Goes Dolly celebration, filling the Opry House with songs, stories, and reverence for Dolly Parton’s extraordinary legacy. This year’s event carried special significance, honouring Parton ahead of her 80th birthday with a setlist that leaned heavily into her influential 1980s era while weaving in beloved classics from across her unmatched catalog.
The evening brought together a mix of Opry members and special guests, including Vince Gill, Lainey Wilson, Rhonda Vincent, and Mark Wills, alongside Sierra Hull, Elizabeth Nichols and hit songwriter Trannie Anderson, who marked her Grand Ole Opry debut. The celebration reached its emotional peak as Gill and Wilson closed the night with stirring renditions of ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning' and the timeless ‘I Will Always Love You,' a reminder of the emotional reach and lasting relevance of Parton’s songwriting.
The tribute arrived during an especially active moment for Parton, who this week released a newly recorded version of ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning' featuring Lainey Wilson, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, and Reba McEntire. The collaboration underscored the multi-generational impact of her work and the deep respect she commands across genres and eras.
Beyond the music, the Opry extended the celebration into a meaningful charitable effort. In partnership with Julien’s, the Opry launched an exclusive online auction giving fans the opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind, Dolly Parton–signed microphone stand, with proceeds benefiting the Opry Trust Fund. Designed in unmistakable Dolly fashion with rhinestones and butterflies, the stand includes an autographed plaque signed during the Opry 100 celebration in 2025, along with a framed photograph from Parton’s Grand Ole Opry induction in 1969, captured by longtime Opry photographer Les Leverett.
Additional support flowed from the evening’s ticket sales, with five dollars from every ticket donated to Parton’s Imagination Library, her longstanding book-gifting program that provides free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five. Together, the music, the memories, and the mission made Opry Goes Dolly not just a birthday tribute, but a reflection of the generosity, influence, and enduring spirit that have defined Dolly Parton’s remarkable career.
