Sam Smith has debuted at number 2 in the US with his debut album In The Lonely Hour making pop music history in the process.
In The Lonely Hour sold 166,000 copies in its first week which is more than any other debut album by a UK male artist in the 23-year history of Soundscan. The success comes off the back of Sam’s Top 10 US hit Stay With Me which has sold over a million copies in the US alone.
Sam will be hitting the road in the US this September for a tour that has completely sold out already. He’ll be playing iconic venues such as The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York and the Riviera Theater in Chicago. He will then return to the UK for a triumphant homecoming tour.
In The Lonely Hour has enjoyed huge success here in the UK too topping the charts upon its release.
