Witches of East End season 2: 10 things we want

We share our thoughts ahead of the show’s second season.

Witches of East End

Witches of East End will be back on screens in the US this July with a UK transmission expected to follow before the end of the year.

If you haven’t seen the first season finale then we suggest you stop reading now so we don’t spoil anything for you. If you have seen it then keep reading to find out what we want to see from season 2.

Since Witches of East End was renewed for a 13-episode second season, Lifetime have been keeping details about the season very close to their chest. All we know for certain is that British actor Christian Cooke has joined the cast as a series regular and will play Frederick Beauchamp, the brother of Ingrid (Rachel Boston) and Freya (Jenna Dewan Tatum).

We’ve put together a list of the things we want to see when the show returns:

1. A good look at Asgard. This one is pretty much guaranteed seeing as Ingrid opened the door to the magical realm in the season one finale. We know that the opening of the door will result in Frederick Beauchamp entering the series (we bet he was the man emerging from the door) but we want to see the darker side of Asgard and how that impacts on the life the Beauchamps are leading in Fair Haven.

2. More Victor Beauchamp (Joel Gretsch). Relations may be stretched between Victor and his family but he did help Freya make the right decision not to marry Dash (Eric Winter). With his son back and his daughters realising the strength of their powers, we hope Victor will stick around so we get to learn more about him.

3. Killian (Daniel Di Tomasso) and Dash to go to war. This one feels like a given especially seeing as Dash left Killian for dead in the first season finale after their powers were unleashed following the death of their mother Penelope (Virginia Madsen). With their powers awakened we think the rivalry between these two is going to escalate even more and we can’t wait.

4. Killian and Freya forever. Victor told Freya that Killian was her soulmate in her past life and Freya spent most of the first season resisting his charms (with the occasional giving in) so we want to see how this relationship pans out. They have great chemistry and we’re hoping for plenty more scenes oozing sexual tension in season 2.

5. More Wendy (Madchen Amick). Ok Wendy got a fair bit of screentime in season one but we want even more in the new season. The rebellious aunt provided plenty of humour and drama. We want plenty more mischief from Wendy!

6. Ingrid to get a bit of a break. The poor girl attracted disaster in the first season and was at the centre of some of the darker storylines. Her boyfriend Adam (Jason George) died and she uncovered some seriously disturbing memories from her past. Obviously she needs to stay in the thick of the action but we’d like to see a glimmer of happiness in some aspect of her life in season 2.

7. Big bad Dash. The hunky (and scorned) Gardiner brother is going to be on the warpath this season and we reckon that his new-found power will go straight to his head. We suspect he’s going to be a danger to the Beauchamps, Freya inparticular, and the death of his mother isn’t going to do anything to help that rage we saw in the season one finale.

8. Darker storylines. The teasers for season 2 have the tag ‘Darkness is rising’ throughout them so we hope this is reflected in the show. The first season had a few dark moments but overall it was a season of discovery for Freya and Ingrid as they learned how to use their powers. Now they are more in control and with the door to Asgard opening, we want things to get dark and edgy.

9. Joanna and Wendy’s father. Their father banished them from Asgard after he became corrupt but now the door between the two worlds is open surely we’re going to see him onscreen. We imagine that’s not going to be the most welcome return for Joanna and Wendy but it should introduce an interesting conflict into the Beauchamp’s lives. Let’s not forget he told them if they ever returned he would kill them.

10. Some hot romance. Ok so we’re pretty much certain to get that for Freya but what about the other characters? Wendy had a little dalliance with Leo (Freddie Prinze Jr) in season one, Joanna jumped back into bed with her ex-husband Victor and Ingrid had a pretty up-and-down love life. We want to see new love interests on the horizon and some scorching scenes that Witches of East End does so well.
