Harold Ramis has died aged 69 it has been confirmed.
The actor, writer and director, best-known for his role as Egon Spengler in the Ghostbusters movies, died of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. The news was confirmed by his wife.
Over the years Ramis has been involved with many hit movies including The Ice Harvest, Bedazzled, Year One, Caddyshack, Analyze This and Groundhog Day.
Ramis started his career as a writer for his local paper and worked as an editor for the ‘party jokes’ section of Playboy magazine. He stepped into acting when he joined Chicago’s Second City improvised comedy troupe.
He admitted he was always best-remembered for Ghostbusters. A third movie has been in development for years.
