Marelle and Out of Print, 21 and 27 February, Canada Water Culture Space
These two new works have been created through Canada Water Culture Space’s Emerging Artists Scheme, and both offer an experimental approach to theatre – Marelle is a different piece every night, with multiple vignettes that lock together into wholly new stories, while Out of Print sends you on a promenade performance around Canada Water Library, which houses the theatre. A perfect introduction to this exciting space!
A November Day, 12 March, Canada Water Culture Space
A centenary play with a twist, A November Day features puppetry and the heart-wrenching tale of the friendship between an old war veteran and a dog.
Egusi Soup, 25-28 March, The Albany
Nigerian-born Janice Okoh won the Bruntwood Prize not too long ago, and this is an excellent example of the new breed of Nigerian-British plays that are starting to grace the capital’s stages more and more frequently – a bouncy comedy!
Naïve Dance Masterclass with Matt Rudkin, 27 March, Canada Water Culture Space
Dance/comedy/stand-up/performance art from general madman Matt Rudkin, this is the comedy show to break expectations and challenge perceptions!
BITES: Remix, 25 April, The Albany
Combining circus, cabaret and comedy into something entirely different, this new night at the Albany promises to be a genre-bending night of entertainment and something you won’t have seen before.
The Chairs, 29 April – 02 May, The Albany
Ionesco’s classic farce performed by two blind actors – like Frozen above, Extant use the disabilities of their performers to delve further into the stories of their pieces, and this promises to be an exciting take on this timeless piece of surrealism.
