K Anderson – 14 Year Old Me single review

K Anderson first grabbed our attention in 2010 with his debut album The Overthinker. The acoustic singer-songwriter garnered critical-acclaim for his honest and witty musings about his life, and his observations about life in general. We’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for a follow-up for some time and new single 14 Year Old Me is the first taster of his new material.

14 Year Old Me is the brand new track from Anderson and it’s a nice progression from the sound of The Overthinker. The autobiographical tale reflects on getting older and wishing you could warn your younger self of how life is going to turn out. Anderson sings about holding onto the dreams you had as a youngster and driving forward despite life’s obstacles and distractions. Musically the song is a gentle track built around an acoustic riff that gives way to a military style drum-break in the middle.

On the strength of this track we can’t wait to see what Anderson has coming up next. He certainly knows how to turn out a relatable lyric and his gentle but melodic vocal is affecting in all the right places. We absolutely loved The Overthinker and 14 Year Old Me shows that Anderson has lost none of the magic that captivated us in the first place.
