Glass Caves have already caused some waves in the North of England where they’ve sold thousands of their self-released EPs alongside selling out some notable venues. The band started off by buskin in Yorkshire before playing at major festivals such as Live at Leeds, Tramlines, Liverpool Sound City and Long Division. Summer Lover EP is their new EP and we had a listen.
The EP kicks off with Summer Lover, which starts off rather nicely with a catchy melody. The track is good fun however the chorus is without a doubt the star of the show. Up next is Throw Down The Pistol another rock song filled with guitar riffs and soaring vocals. This track is a little less melodic and edgier instead with a mix of blues and rock thrown in.
The EP gets melodic again with This Road. Probably the catchiest track on the EP This Road is an entertaining and vibrant track. The northern influences are very apparent on this one. We do love the infectious guitar riff on this track and can’t stop singing the chorus.
The EP ends with Safety Man, a track packed with volume. The song is entertaining but also a little too generic.
Summer Lover is a bit of a mixed bag some tracks like Summer Lover and This Road are catchy and have the potential to really work on our airwaves, whilst the other two tracks, Throw Down The Pistol and Safety Man (although good) feel too generic. I guess we’ll need to hear more from these guys before we can make up our mind.
