Latitude took place in sunny Suffolk, where for another year the festival dazzled its attendees with great music, tasty food and a different outlook on what a music festival should be.
Day 3 of the festival was the sunniest and with even more amazing acts on the bill we couldn’t wait to be out and about exploring the site. Bobby Womack got a warm welcome when he took the main stage whilst Laura Mvula started the activities by the BBC 6 stage.
The main stage was busy with people eating and enjoying the sunshine and with it came the peaceful sound of James Blake’s music. The young artist’s sound seemed so perfectly suited to our mood and with his mellow and smooth beats he kept the crowd in a calm trance.
Female duo Cocorosie were a different experience altogether. On the BBC 6 stage the band took the stage in front of an expectant crowd. Known for their eccentric style and even more phenomenal shows, Cocorosie made it all look very easy. We loved their atmospheric, deep sound and how each instrument and band member played a vital role to the experience.
Certainly one of the highlights of our day was seeing LA band, Local Natives perform on the Obelisk stage. Kicking things off with You & I the band instantly captured the crowd’s attention. The tracks we love from the first and second album started to make much more sense live. Heavy Feet and Breakers were big statements of Local Natives live power and Airplane simply stunned us. It was indeed a real treat to finally see this band perform so many songs that we’ve loved for so long and impossibly make them sound better live.
On The BBC 6 stage things got quite heated when Rudimental finally made their appearance. The band got the loudest cheers at Latitude and amassed a biggest crowd the tent had seen all weekend. The dnb/pop band really put on a show and impressed us with their energy and the ease with which it performed each hit, Waiting All Night and Feel The Love amongst others. Disclosure were on next and similarly gathered a big crowd of fans. The young duo impressed us with a great live set playing some of our favourite tracks off the album, When A Fire Starts To Burn, You & Me and smash hit Latch.
Many more acts took our fancy like The 1975, who were great on the Lake Stage, Grizzly Bear on the main stage and finally headliners Foals.
Latitude 2013 finished on a high with yet another successful year of music and entertainment. We enjoyed how peaceful it all was and can certainly see why families love it so much. Roll on 2014!
