Jonny Woo to host at Latitude

Fancy something a little bit different at Latitude? Here comes Jonny Woo to the rescue.

One of London’s most famous trannies Woo is this year hosting a special screening of the 1980’s NY Drag Balls documentary, Paris Is Burning. The feature follows a group of very entertaining and colourful characters that participate in competitions to find out who is legendary and who is not in the Big Apple!

The documentary features transsexuals like Venus Xtravaganza and Octavia St Laurent who talk about the trials of being transgender in NYC and there is also Pepper Lebeija the reigning house ‘mother’ at The House of Labeija. The documentary is a powerful rendition of the human spirit that battles over adversity.

The extravagant Jonny Woo will make his own personal introduction of the documentary, which influenced his career. Woo is renowned for his own ball at The Royal Opera House and Latitude couldn’t be more excited to have him. The artist invites festivalgoers to dress in the fasion of the 80’s: as an executive, a woman going to the opera, a high fashion parisienne or in ‘banjee girl realness’.

This is one event you don’t want to miss at Latitude.
