RTS Programme Awards – Sheridan Smith Interview

Sheridan Smith has come a long way since Gavin and Stacey. Having taken the musical theatre world by storm for her role in Legally Blond, we’ve recently seen her in ITV’s Mrs Biggs.

Last night, Sheridan was nominated alongside Anne Marie Duff and Olivia Colman in the Best Actress category at the Royal Television Society Awards.

Here, she tells us about being nominated, and which she prefers – theatre or television:

How do you feel about being nominated tonight?

I’m very excited. I thought it was all a mistake when I first heard about it.

We’re sure you’re used to being nominated now, having been nominated for a lot of things you’ve done?

Ha ha! No, I’ve never been nominated for a TV award before, other than at the National Television Awards, which happened recently, so this is all kind of new to me.

What’s your favourite – TV or theatre?

I think I prefer the live buzz of the theatre. They are both great in their different ways. I just feel lucky to be working.

How are you going to be celebrating tonight if you win?

I won’t! Ha ha! Anne Marie-Duff is like my idol, so be on the same list as her is amazing.

Good luck tonight, and we’re sure you’ll do well!

Aww, thank you guys! See you later!
