Aiden Leslie is a singer-songwriter who is out to stake his claim on the pop music scene.
Based in NYC, Aiden has released dance hitsĀ Worlds AwayĀ andĀ Trying To Leave NowĀ which have performed well on the club circuit where he can be regularly found performing.
We caught up with Aiden to talk about his latest releaseĀ Diamond Dreams, find out more about his music and talk about the possibility of promoting his music in the UK.
How are you today? Where does this Q&A find you?
Doing well, thank you! Right now, Iām looking forward to spending the holidays at my home in New York City with close friends.
Youāve just released your new single Diamond Dreams. Tell us about the track.
Diamond DreamsĀ is about my journey from arriving in New York City 6 days after my High School Graduation with the dreams of becoming the performer that I am today. Itās the story of how I came to NYC as a boyā¦grew into a man and how I have survived life alone in the big city.
Why did you decide to back the release with a variety of remixes?
For me, the remixes are always the āother storyā to tell in addition to the original. When I do a new single, I have to do a set of remixes for the dance floors. Itās where I come from as an artist.
We can tell from the video that youāre not frightened to flash the flesh. What do you do to keep in shape?
(Laughs) I try to work out about 5 days a week. I love the gymā¦it keeps me feeling balanced not only physically but mentally as well. I am careful about what I eat, but allow myself one ācheatā day. AND lots of water and sleep!
Is the song going to lead to an album or are you just testing out material on your fans at the moment?
Itās absolutely leading to an album, which I have been slowly writing and recording. At the same time, I have been enjoying releasing the individual singles and videos. In todayās market, singles can have a big impact compared to full albums. Itās a good way to start to get your music out there.
How would you describe a typical Aiden Leslie fan?
Loyal, generous and incredibly supportive! Iām so grateful for everyoneās encouragement the last couple of yearsā¦itās what keeps me going.
Which artists really inspire you and who do you really admire?
The list is longāIt would be hard to name everyone. But, I love Andy Bell, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, George Michael, and of course, Madonna.
When will you be playing some live shows?
Iām doing some private events in NYC over the holidays and will be announcing new show dates in the New Year.
Do you have any plans to bring your music over to the UK in the New Year?
I would LOVE to come to the UK. I have yet to visit, so itās definitely something I want to do.
