Mercury Nashville singer-songwriter Bryce Leatherwood has officially released his highly anticipated self-titled debut album. The season 22 winner of The Voice delivers a 12-track collection that celebrates the traditional country sounds he grew up with while introducing his own authentic voice to the genre.
Leatherwood's love for country music was born in his grandfather’s truck, where classic voices like George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Conway Twitty filled the air. That early influence shaped the Woodstock, Georgia native’s path from playing bar gigs in college to winning The Voice and now releasing his first full-length project. NPR’s All Songs Considered named the album a “Best Album Pick,” while Saving Country Music praised Leatherwood’s voice as “a stellar vehicle for delivering country music.”
“I’ve been chasing this dream ever since the eighth grade when my daddy handed over his much-loved Conway Twitty Greatest Hits CD,” said Leatherwood. “To finally have my very own album out in the world, I am just over the moon and so excited for fans to hear it. I hope people listen to it and walk away feeling like country music is alive and well.”
Produced by Will Bundy, the album is a mix of original songs and handpicked outside cuts, ranging from honky-tonk singalongs to heartfelt ballads. Tracks like ‘Neon Does,' ‘The One My Daddy Found' and ‘Where the Bar Is' showcase Leatherwood’s range, while new songs like ‘In Lieu of Flowers,' ‘Something Bout A Girl' and ‘Cheap Cologne' add emotional depth and variety. The track ‘Shenandoah,' co-written by Leatherwood, leans into timeless devotion, while ‘The Finger' adds a playful twist to heartbreak.
Country Now notes the album “introduces Leatherwood in his most authentic form,” and American Songwriter calls it “a true 21st-century country music album with flares that pay homage to the past.”
To mark the release, Leatherwood performed ‘In Lieu of Flowers' on Today with Jenna & Friends, where he also received a heartfelt message from his former Voice coach Blake Shelton. “It still seems like literally yesterday that I watched you win The Voice, and I’m still just as proud of you today,” said Shelton.
Leatherwood is also set to return to The Voice stage for its finale on May 20, joining a lineup that includes Alicia Keys, Chance the Rapper, Sheryl Crow, Joe Jonas, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton.
Looking ahead, Leatherwood will perform at the Grand Ole Opry on May 24 and take the stage at CMA Fest on the Good Molecules Reverb Stage in June. Fans can catch him at festivals throughout the summer, with more touring details to be announced soon.
