Walter Presents is bringing German series ‘The Roots of Evil' to Channel 4 this month.
Created by Stephan Rick, Catharina Junk and Elke Schuch, the series stars Henriette Confurius and Fahri Yardim. The series features six episodes, each running for 40 minutes.
In Germany, 1993, the body of a young girl is found in a remote forest near the village of Wussnitz, arranged on a bed of flowers, her skin inscribed with an ancient Germanic alphabet. East German Inspector Ulrike Bandow takes on the case, joined by a new partner from the West, Koray Larssen. As the unlikely pair delves deeper into the investigation, cryptic clues lead them into the shadows of Germany’s divided past, where they uncover a long-buried and ritualistic series of murders.
It soon becomes clear that the killer has returned to the place where it all began. To stop them, Ulrike and Larssen must learn to trust one another—but that’s easier said than done, as Larssen is keeping secrets of his own, while Ulrike is forced to confront a haunting personal guilt she’s long tried to bury.
Walter Presents: ‘The Roots of Evil' will launch on Channel 4 on 3rd November 2025 at 24:00. The boxset is available on C4 Streaming now.
