Platinum-selling country star Priscilla Block is turning heads with her latest release, “You're Breaking My Heart (Cecilia),” a bold reimagining of the Simon & Garfunkel classic. The song is available now via Mercury Nashville.
Originally featured on the 1970 Grammy-winning album ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water,' ‘Cecilia' tells the story of heartbreak from the perspective of a jilted lover. Block flips the narrative, delivering a fiery message to the “other woman” in a style reminiscent of Dolly Parton’s legendary ‘Jolene.' With her signature blend of sass and vulnerability, Block transforms the tune into a modern country anthem packed with attitude and heart.
“Some of my all-time favorite songs are modern takes on old classics, and when I heard this one, it just felt right,” says Block. “My mom grew up listening to ‘Cecilia,’ and to me, it has that same timeless pull — like a modern-day ‘Jolene.’ I hope y’all love it.”
‘You’re Breaking My Heart (Cecilia)' was penned by top Nashville songwriters Jessie Jo Dillon, Chris Tompkins, Jesse Frasure, and Hailey Whitters. It was produced by four-time Grammy Award winner David Garcia.
Since her breakout with ‘Just About Over You,' Block has earned praise for her fresh take on country music, with The New York Times calling her approach “refreshing and ambitious.” She’s amassed a dedicated online fanbase of over 5.1 million, with appearances on national TV shows and nominations from the ACM Awards, CMT Awards, and People’s Choice Country Awards.
Block is set to join Cole Swindell’s Happy Hour Sad Tour this fall and is expected to announce more new music in the coming weeks. For tour dates and more, visit priscillablock.com/tour.
