Emerging singer-songwriter Ian Harrison has released his introspective new single ‘Cigarette,' a track that pairs catchy melodies with deeply personal reflection. Written alongside Thomas Daniel, Rory Adams and Mike Robinson, the song explores the tension between personal choices, faith and the quiet guilt that can follow when someone feels they have fallen short of their own values.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Harrison explained that the song grew from moments of self-awareness and internal conflict. “I think I usually have a good North Star to follow when it comes to being a good person. However, I — like a lot of people — often feel like I miss the mark. Sometimes the things I enjoy the most do nothing but hurt me,” he said. That struggle, he adds, can bring a sense of shame, particularly when viewed through the lens of faith, and ‘Cigarette' reflects those emotions in a way that aims to be both honest and relatable.
Harrison hopes the song resonates with listeners who may be experiencing similar feelings. “I’m self-aware enough to admit that sometimes I fall short, but I hope this song gives anyone in the same situation the feeling that they’re seen and can offer a sense of peace knowing there are other people making the same choices, mistakes and carrying the same guilt,” he explained.
The new release arrives at a busy time for the rising artist. Fresh from making his debut appearance at the Extra Innings Festival, Harrison is preparing to head to the UK and Ireland to support Cooper Alan on the To The Park Tour this spring.
The run begins on April 17 in Dublin before heading to Belfast, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, where Harrison will perform across multiple nights as part of the tour. Tickets and further information are available via Ian Harrison’s official website.
