Two-time Grammy Award winner Tyler Bryant is embracing spontaneity and stripped-back authenticity on his latest solo release, ‘Screwed and Tattooed,' a track born from pure musical instinct and captured almost entirely in the moment. Created inside Bryant’s own studio space, the song reflects the vision behind building a creative environment where inspiration doesn’t wait for perfection, it simply gets recorded as it happens. In an era increasingly shaped by technology and artificial intelligence, Bryant is doubling down on human connection, favouring raw performances and genuine collaboration over polish.
The track came together during sessions with songwriting hero Rodney Crowell while Bryant was producing Crowell’s album ‘Airline Highway.' What began as two musicians trading ideas on acoustic guitars quickly turned into something special, rooted in their shared love of gritty, low-down blues. As Bryant locked into a groove on his vintage Kalamazoo acoustic, Crowell began improvising lyrics, effectively laughing the song into existence. The following day, friends joined Bryant in the studio for an impromptu jam session, and less than an hour later ‘Screwed and Tattooed' had been recorded, preserving the immediacy and chemistry that defined its creation.
The release marks another step in Bryant’s evolving solo journey following years fronting Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. Now working independently, he is leaning fully into creative freedom, allowing instinct rather than expectation to guide his music. ‘Screwed and Tattooed' captures an artist reconnecting with the roots of blues and rock while reaffirming a belief that, now more than ever, authenticity and real-time musical moments still carry the greatest power.
