Evan Bartels releases new song ‘Lula’ ahead of C2C festival shows

Singer-songwriter Evan Bartels has released ‘Lula,' his debut track on the newly revived Lost Highway Records. Known for his ability to tell raw, human stories through music, Bartels has been praised by American Songwriter as “intense and intimate,” capturing the emotions of everyday people in an unfiltered way.

“I wanted the first song, for better or for worse, to be a song that zooms in on humanity,” Bartels explains. “I wanted to have something that when people hear it, they go, ‘This feels like it matters.’ It feels like it matters to me.”

The song was inspired by a dream, and both the name and story of ‘Lula' came together quickly. “Lula is a song about somebody who wants to live and die on their own terms,” Bartels says. “And I think that’s an admirable quality no matter what the circumstances.”

Bartels is currently on tour in Europe, having kicked off several performances in Berlin for C2C: Country to Country before heading to the U.K. festival at London’s O2 Arena.

A Look at Evan Bartels' Journey

Born and raised in the small town of Tobias, Nebraska, Bartels grew up in an environment that offered both freedom and a longing for something more. He began touring as a teenager before moving to Nashville, where he independently released his debut album, ‘The Devil, God, & Me' in 2017. This was followed by the 2019 EP ‘Promised Land' and the full-length album ‘Lonesome' in 2021, which led to international touring opportunities. His music has been featured on Netflix’s The Ranch and highlighted by comedian Theo Von on his podcast.

Now signed to Lost Highway Records, Bartels is preparing to release more new music in the coming weeks.
